Mirela Popovici
Mirela Popovici makes porcelain and glass art in Hollywood, Florida. She studied ceramics at a local community studio and finds it to be a very therapeutic process. Clay comes from the Earth and grounds her. There is a miracle happening when glass melts and turns to glaze or flows over silver and copper. Mirela finds this transformation process to be a relaxing break from her job in technology, like an inspiring walk in nature. Her love of porcelain has been passed down through generations of her family and takes her back to her roots. Her grandfather was head of the Iris Porcelain Factory in her hometown of Cluj, Romania and her parents worked in a tile factory. Mirela loves to experiment with different ceramics techniques and create beautiful new collections.
